Crawley, Horsham and District Table Tennis League
December 2011 Minutes
Minutes of Committee Meeting Monday 5th December at 7.00pm . At Holy Trinity School.
Present; Derek Flannagan ,Alison East, George Gray,
Alan Shipley, Dave Edwards and Brian Stevens.
1 Chairman’s Address.
Derek reported that the season was running well. Premier, Div 1 and Div2 standards were higher than last season. C1 is suffering and there is a great variation in the standard and this is impacting negatively amongst players.
Derek has been compiling a listing of past records. This will eventually be displayed on our Website as well as at our end of year championship. Thanks to Dave Edwards and Andy Meads for their help in putting this together.
Registrations showed that we have 160 players in our league this is the second highest in Sussex. At the county meeting our league given a positive reputation.
Congratulations to Kate Cheer who is currently ranked at number 2 in the U13s.
2 Secretary’s Report.
Insurance document were handed out to those present. Those clubs that were not present will be forwarded them.
Joe will not be reporting for the league or the results for next season due to unnecessary e-mails sent him.
An e-mail will be sent to all club secretaries regarding warning them of a player that might want access to their club.
Could players be aware that foul language is unacceptable especially where juniors are in attendance?
3 Treasurer’s Report.
A balance sheet was presented and accepted.
East Grinstead has not paid their affiliation fees and they have been contacted and warned of the implications if this.
Holy Trinity need to be paid for an invoice that has not been received this will be on the next balance sheet
4 Player Registration.
Derek and Alan are going to produce a form for next season to make this easier to access player information.
5 Child Protection Officer.
No one has come forward for this post so clubs that have juniors or vulnerable
adults should take responsibility and should abide with the E.T.T.A Child Protection Policy Booklet.
6 C1 Division
C1 Division including Trinity withdrawal and fine, a £10 fine will be sent to Trinity for the withdrawal of a team from C1. It was agreed that C1 will not run next season and the division will end at the conclusion at the 2nd round of matches.
Alan commented that some players would not wish to play in the H/A format
again. Dave made the committee aware that some players that played in C1 are
unaware that the league had a H/A format.
7 Closed Championships
The committee agreed that this event will be held on the 11th/12th February
at Holy Trinity Ball Hall. A Junior events will be held on a evening to be announced as the above date clashes with another Junior event.
The finals will be staged as far as possible with a presentation at the end of the evenings play. Derek Bunday as our president will be asked to present the prizes.
8 Accident Reporting
An accident book has been purchased, Alan put himself forward as coordinator for this. All accidents should be reported to Alan and also reported to secretary of the premises.
9 New Table Tennis Club.
George is starting a new club he has booked Holy Trinity School. This club will start on the 21st March. George will make a formal request to affiliate this club with our league
10 Shield Competition Update.
This competition is running well, one team has dropped out this leaves 14 teams in the Presidents and 12 teams in the Chairman’s.
11 Players playing up.
It was observed that 3 players in the Premier Division had played up more than 6 times. Dave and Joe will coordinate to reclassify their new rankings and monitor other players. It was agreed that the league will enforce Rule 12 regarding team nominations.
12 A.O.B.
It was requested that H/A result cards should be sent in swiftly.
Alan is running a quiz night on behalf of the league a date will follow.
Alison to purchase the prizes.
K2 is not available on 29th March so will now finish on 5th April 2012.
The league are looking into using a table tennis website for next season.
13 Date of next meeting.
This will be on 16th January 2012 .Venue to be confirmed at a later date.
Meeting closed at 9.30pm.
